Care When You’re Not Feeling Like Yourself

Illnesses and unexpected health concerns rarely happen at convenient times. When you suddenly develop a fever, sore throat, cough, stomach symptoms, infection, or another new problem, Hometown Family Medicine is here to help you understand what is going on and determine the appropriate treatment.

Our acute and sick care visits focus on evaluating new symptoms, providing treatment when appropriate, and helping you know what to do next.

Conditions We Commonly Evaluate

Our providers can evaluate and treat many common illnesses and short-term health concerns, including:

  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Cough, congestion, and sore throat
  • Fever and chills
  • Sinus infections
  • Ear infections and ear pain
  • Respiratory infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Stomach and digestive concerns
  • Rashes and minor skin conditions
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Minor injuries and everyday health concerns

Cold, Flu & Respiratory Symptoms

Coughing, congestion, sore throat, fever, and fatigue can have a number of different causes. While many respiratory illnesses improve with time and supportive care, others may require testing, medication, or additional evaluation.

Our providers can evaluate your symptoms and help determine whether they may be related to:

  • Common colds
  • Influenza
  • Sinus infections
  • Bronchitis
  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Allergies
  • Other respiratory conditions

Treatment recommendations are based on your symptoms, medical history, examination, and any testing that may be appropriate.

Sore Throat, Ear Pain & Sinus Problems

Persistent sore throats, earaches, sinus pressure, and facial pain can become uncomfortable quickly.

During your visit, we can evaluate the cause of your symptoms and determine whether treatment is needed. Depending on your condition, this may include medication, supportive care, testing, or recommendations for additional evaluation.

Stomach & Digestive Illness

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and changes in digestion are common reasons patients seek medical care. Our providers can evaluate your symptoms, help identify possible causes, and recommend treatment when appropriate. Because abdominal symptoms can sometimes indicate more serious conditions, we will also help determine when additional testing, imaging, or emergency evaluation may be necessary.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections can cause significant discomfort and may worsen if left untreated.

Common symptoms include:

  • Burning or pain with urination
  • Increased urinary frequency
  • Sudden urinary urgency
  • Lower abdominal discomfort
  • Changes in the appearance or odor of urine

Our team can evaluate your symptoms and determine whether testing or treatment may be appropriate.

Rashes & Minor Skin Concerns

Skin problems can appear suddenly and may have many different causes, including allergic reactions, irritation, infections, insect bites, or other conditions.

We can evaluate many common skin concerns, including:

  • Unexplained rashes
  • Minor allergic skin reactions
  • Itching and irritation
  • Insect bites and stings
  • Minor skin infections
  • Other sudden changes in the skin

If a condition requires specialized dermatologic care, we can help guide you toward the appropriate next step.

Headaches & Other Sudden Symptoms

New or worsening headaches, dizziness, fatigue, body aches, and other sudden symptoms can be difficult to interpret on your own. Our providers will review your symptoms and health history, perform an appropriate examination, and help determine whether treatment, testing, monitoring, or additional medical evaluation is recommended.

Knowing When You Need a Higher Level of Care

Primary care is appropriate for many illnesses, but some symptoms require immediate emergency evaluation. Severe chest pain, significant difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, or other potentially life-threatening symptoms should be evaluated in an emergency setting rather than waiting for a routine office appointment. If your condition requires imaging, emergency treatment, or specialty evaluation beyond what can be provided in our office, we can help direct you to the appropriate level of care.

Get Back to Feeling Better

When something suddenly feels wrong, you should not have to spend days wondering whether it will improve on its own.

At Hometown Family Medicine, our goal is to provide accessible, thoughtful care that helps you understand your symptoms and move toward feeling better as quickly and safely as possible.
